Weather Forecast for the Algarve - Sun, Sun, Sun
The Algarve is situated in the southernmost part of Portugal. With its coasts, hills and fertile orchards, this is a beautiful part of Europe with something for everybody. The weather in the Algarve is warm all year round. This part of Portugal enjoys approximately 300 days of sunshine annually, with reasonably steady temperatures. Sunsets here are very beautiful too. Combine that with blue skies, flowers in abundance and temperatures higher than California, it is no wonder that the Algarve is so popular for holidays!
The months of July and August are usually very hot. However, on most days of the year, there is a light breeze from the west. Evenings are usually cooler and you will feel comfortable with a just a light sweater or jacket. As in the UK, the Spring and Autumn months offer the type of weather for exploring and touring. The hot months of July and August are strictly for sun-lovers. If you decide to visit this area in winter you will be pleasantly surprised to find you will probably only need a fleece or light jacket. As for rainfall, December to February are the wettest months. But the good news is that the rain only tends to fall for an hour or so - unlike the constant drizzle in the UK. See below for a month-by-month guide to the weather in the Algarve.

In January temperatures will be around 15 degrees centigrade (59 degrees Fahrenheit) and, on average, there will be 6 sunshine hours daily.
Algarve weather February
February temperatures will be around 16 degrees centigrade (61 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 7. Compare this to the UK, and you will realise that this is actually very pleasant!
Algarve weather March
March temperatures will range from 17 degrees centigrade (63 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 7. Although still early in the year, now things are starting to warm up!
Algarve weather April
In April you will experience temperatures of around 20 degrees centigrade (68 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 9 which is very pleasant indeed. This is a lovely time of year to go touring as temperatures are ideal for walking and sightseeing.
Algarve weather May
May is a lovely time to visit the Algarve. Temperatures will be in the region of 22 degrees centigrade (72 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 10. The weather is now ideal for the beach or for sightseeing.
Algarve weather June
This is when the really hot weather begins to arrive. June temperatures will normally be around 25 degrees centigrade (77 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 12. June is the month of hot, sunny days and balmy evenings - perfect for a walk along the beach followed by a drink in a bar.
Algarve weather July
July and August, are the hottest months. In July temperatures will range upwards from 28 degrees centigrade (82 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 12. Sun-worshippers flock to the Algarve during these months as hot sunshine is more or less guaranteed. However, you can always cool off with a dip in the sea. Sea temperatures here are warm and very pleasant for swimming.

In August temperatures will range from 28 degrees centigrade (82 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 10. Temperatures can rise even higher in a really hot summer so this month is only for the true lovers of hot sun.
Algarve weather September
In September, the Algarve is still hot. Now the temperature ranges from around 26 degrees and the average daily hours of sunshine are 9. With the children back at school, this can be a good month to hire a car to explore the area as the roads are quieter at this time of year.
Algarve weather October
October temperatures on the Algarve range from around 22 degrees centigrade (72 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 8. This can be a lovely time of year to escape to the autumn warmth of this area. Again, this can be the ideal time for those who enjoy touring, walking and exploring the little villages of the area.

In November temperatures range from around 19 degrees centigrade (66 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 6. November can be pleasant and mild and this is the time when holidays are cheaper.

In December temperatures will range from 16 degrees centigrade (61 degrees Fahrenheit) and the average daily hours of sunshine are 6.
