For keen golfers, there’s a great range of courses in the vicinity, with the stunning Benamor Golf Club offering views of the ocean and the mountains and both Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima Golf Clubs located nearby within the national park.
The main town itself is a delightful spot to wander around and it is full of historical sites to explore. For those that like to sample the local cuisine during their holidays, the Tavira indoor market is a lovely spot for picking up some local delicacies, such as olives and juicy fresh fruits. If you enjoy the great outdoors, it doesn’t get much more great than Ria Formosa and there are some stunning walking trails through the sand dunes that will take you up close to the indigenous flora and fauna of the region.
