The area effortlessly combines all the modern facilities and services you would expect from a contemporary holiday resort with the traditional character and charm of the former fishing villages that cling to the Atlantic coastline. Long stretches of sandy beach lapped by azure waters and narrow, cobbled streets dotted with whitewashed buildings in the traditional Algarve style sit side by side with pristine championship golf courses, modern hotel complexes and a vibrant nightlife.

The resort of Tavira is situated to the east of Faro and is easily reached from the airport. At the eastern edge of the Algarve region, Tavira is an area of vast open spaces, long and fascinating history and rolling hills that demand to be explored. The hotel is located just outside the delightful village of Cabanas, where you can catch a free boat to the beach. For those looking for a peaceful and relaxing Algarve break, the area around Tavira is the ideal spot to stay.

Things to do nearby

Cabanas itself is an incredibly laidback spot and you will quickly get into the relaxed mindset. The town lies at the edge of the lagoons of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, making it a wonderfully picturesque spot to enjoy a coffee at one of the little cafes along the main street. The hotel is just outside the resort area of Tavira and here you’ll find plenty of activities to keep the whole family amused. The town of Tavira is well worth a visit for an insight into the traditional Algarve style of building. The Roman Bridge, rebuilt after the famous earthquake of 1755, links the two sides of town across the River Gilão and the remains of Tavira castle are also worth a look.

If golf is your thing, there’s no shortage of courses to choose from, with the nearest being Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima and Colina Verde. Just a few kilometres from Tavira and well worth making the trip is the “O Pego do Inferno” or Pool of Hell, an ironically named turquoise lagoon complete with beautiful cascading waterfall.
