Sagres is a beautiful Algarve town that enjoys an amazing location by Cape St. Vincent. The area is ideal for surfing, with keen boarders able to take advantage of the breaks on either side of the cape. The town of Sagres is a delightful place to explore and a walking tour is a great way to familiarise yourself with the area. You can either grab a map from the tourist information office and explore on your own or take an organised tour with a local guide. Some highlights of the town include the fortress and the Praça da República, a square lined with cafes and shops. Just next to the hotel is the harbour at Porto da Baleeira, which still operates as a centre for fishing. This is a great spot to relax with a drink and watch the boats come in.
Surfing is not the only water sport on offer, in fact Sagres is a great spot for diving. Qualified divers can explore the fascinating underwater world around the cape and beginners can also try an introductory dive. Boat trips are a popular excursion for all the family and it is often possible to spot dolphins playing in the surf not far off shore.
