Gida Apartments

The Gida Apartments are in an idyllic location in southern Portugal, providing excellent opportunities for exploring the many historic and cultural attractions on the Algarve. The region is noted for its ancient culture, prestigious holiday resorts and its warm, sunny climate.
The coastline also hosts some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches and a large number of fashionable holiday resorts. It continues to attract millions of tourists a year, with large numbers from the UK, Belgium, Holland and Germany. The region offers an endless number of attractions, many of which are cultural and historic and others which are far more modern and tourist-focused.
Location
The Gida Apartments are about a 20 minute walk from the beach which is about a mile away and from the local amenities in Quarteira. The location is quiet and ‘out of the way’ from the busy crowds of Quarteira, which is ideal for those looking for somewhere more laid-back and low key for their Algarve holiday. To the north of the coast there are rugged mountains with small, picturesque Portuguese villages nestled in the valleys. Here is where the traditional Algarve culture is best preserved and these places can be a welcome retreat from the noisy crowds at the coastal resorts during the summer time.
The Algarve is known for its hot, dry summers. In fact some areas can be rainless for many weeks or even months at a time. The number of sunshine hours is practically double that of southern England so it is no surprise that so many British visitors flock to the region time and time again. It is possible to bathe or swim in the sea comfortably between the months of May and October and the temperature of the sea can be as high as 25 degrees Celsius in some regions by mid to late August.
Facilities
Facilities at Gida Apartments include a reception, bar, TV, mini-golf course, swimming pool and a children’s pool. There are also pool parties hosted at the bar on Saturday and Sunday (depending on the time of year).
Facilities at the apartments include a balcony, air-conditioning, a personal safe, bathroom, TV and a well equipped kitchen.
Things to do nearby
There are plenty of opportunities for shopping in the resort of Portimao and there is also a hypermarket nearby – excellent when you are planning on staying in self-catered accommodation. There are a wide range of nightclubs in the vicinity which tend to be popular with the younger crowd (and those young at heart, of course). There are also numerous bars and restaurants to choose from, depending on what you are looking for. You will also find a very popular resort further along the coast by the name of Albufeira, which offers some of the best nightlife in the Algarve region.
It is usually bustling with tourists during the peak months, especially in August when many British families head off to the Algarve. If you are looking for some serious cultural charm, you could aim for the historic city of Silves, once the capital of the Algarve back in ancient times. Alternatively, consider the historic site of Fortaleza de Santa Catarina with its breathtaking views of the coastline from the marina of Portimao to Praia do Rocha.
There are a number of water parks nearby which are popular in the hot weather – the Slide and Slash Water Park, near Lagoa operates from April until October and is great for families and people of any age. There is also a popular marina in Guia (about 10 miles from the resort of Albufeira) which is open throughout the year, offering an excellent family day out. There are numerous rides such as the water flume and the pirate ship and a number of shows, such as sea lion shows and birds of prey demonstrations, which will be popular with kids and adults alike.
For those in need of some decent retail therapy, there are plenty of shops catering for boutiques, bags, shoes and perfumes in Portimao. Also nearby is a fantastic beach called Praia da Rocha (near Portimao) which is one of the finest in the Algarve
