Location

The hotel is close to a wide range of amenities, including bars, restaurants, shops and cafes, all of which are very popular with tourists during the high season. The beach at Quarteira is only a short walk away and is typical of Algarve beaches – beautiful sands and turquoise waters. The sea temperature is warm enough for swimming from May to October, with temperatures peaking as high as 25 degrees Celsius in some areas by the end of August. However, even in November and late April it is not uncommon for people to swim in the sea – in fact at these times the temperature of the sea off the coast of the Algarve is about the same as it would be along the south coast of England in August.

The resort is situated in southern Portugal, along the southern coast of the Algarve – an area famed for its historic sites, pristine beaches and sunny climate. It is widely regarded as the sunshine capital of Europe and with over 3000 hours of sunshine a year, it has around twice as much as southern England. The Algarve is an area of considerable variety: the interior is dominated by medieval villages and tall mountains, which contrasts with the far more modern, busier tourist resorts situated along the coast.

Facilities in the rooms themselves include a balcony, air-conditioning, personal safe, telephone, TV with cable and satellite service and a private bathroom. A wake-up call service is offered and all the rooms in the hotel are regularly cleaned by the housekeeping staff.

Things to do nearby

The Algarve is packed with attractions, ranging from ancient historic sites to trendy casinos, catering for everyone.

The Algarve Seafaris is very close by and offers local boat tours – an excellent way in which to spend an afternoon relaxing and enjoying the sea breeze. Albufeira, a picturesque and highly popular tourist resort, is only a short journey away and hosts a wide number of attractions. These include golf courses, nightclubs and plenty of bars. There is also a good zoo marine with numerous rides and water flumes, which will be popular during the hot summer months.

You also have the option of heading further afield on your holiday – if you are willing to commit to some travelling. It is possible to take a day trip to Portuguese capital, Lisbon, where you can visit famous sights such as Praco do Comercio and the Castle of Sao Jorge. It is equally viable to spend the day in Seville, a similar distance across into Spain. Here you can take an interest in sights such as the famous cathedral and the Plaza de España. These two cities are ideal for culture seekers or for those who are looking for a wider range of attractions to visit.

However, it is important to plan these journeys well in advance and it may also be more convenient to use public transport (such as bus or train) – as car parking is difficult in these cities, especially during the tourist season (which is at its busiest in August). You could equally stay within the locale and take a visit to the historic site at Fortaleza de Santa Catarina, which provides stunning views of the coastline. In addition, a day trip to the former ancient Algarve capital of Silves is also an option.
