Location

The Hotel is situated along the dramatic south coast of the Portuguese Algarve, a region famous for its pristine beaches and its idyllic climate. Due to the proximity to the sea, a pleasant breeze tends to modify the temperatures during the warmer months, so that the summer temperatures experienced in Praia da Rocha are usually considerably more pleasant than the searing heat you will find as you venture into the Algarve’s interior.

For the more adventurous, it is quite possible to make a trip to the Portuguese Capital of Lisbon and even across the Spanish border into Seville. These two internationally renowned cities offer plenty of Iberian cultural charm.

There are a large number of outstanding beaches along the coastline of the Algarve region, many could be described as among the finest in Europe with their clear waters and beautiful sands. Heading north into the interior you can find plenty of picturesque towns and villages such as Alte and Monchique, many of which are centuries old. Here you can escape the crowds and admire the dramatic scenery and historic culture that the Algarve is so famous for, away from the masses of tourists in the decidedly modern resorts along the coast.

Facilities at the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, a games room, a tennis court, a bar and a restaurant. The rooms are well equipped with air-conditioning, kitchenettes, private/ensuite bathrooms, satellite TV, safe, refrigerator and a telephone. In addition, the hotel also offers foreign exchange. The types of accommodation include a 1 bedroom apartment (run of house available) and a 1 bedroom studio (plus run of house available). The hotel also offers safety deposit boxes for your valuables.

Things to do nearby

Praia da Rocha provides ample shopping opportunities and there is even a hypermarket. There is plenty of nightlife nearby which is particularly tourist friendly . If you are not up to any long travelling during your stay in the Algarve, you can easily remain in the locale and enjoy a visit to the vibrant city of Albufeira, a large tourist-focused resort on the coast or ancient Silves, a town which was once the capital of the Algarve.

There is also a famous historic site called Fortaleza de Santa Catarina, which was built back in the early 17th century. Here, you can relax and take in some impressive views of the river Arade estuary, Ferragudo, Praia da Rocha and the stunning marina of Portimão. For the kids (and the adults alike) there is the popular Slide and Slash water Park, which is located near to Lagoa and runs from the month of April up until the end of October.

There is a well-known marine park located at Guia (about 10km away from Albufeira) which is open all year, providing the perfect family day out. There are plenty of thrilling rides including the water flume or the pirate ship and there are pools to keep you cool from the intense Algarve sun. The park also organises dolphin, sea lion and tropical bird shows, along with birds of prey exhibitions, which should prove to be both educational and fun. In addition, there are numerous places for you to eat and drink. The opening hours are from 10 -5pm in winter (not open Mondays in January or February); 10 – 6pm from the middle of March until the late June and from 10 to 7:30pm during high summer. For those in need of some serious retail therapy, Portimão boasts a wide range of shoe, boutique and bag shops, perfumeries and plenty of cafes.
