The Praia da Rocha area is a cosmopolitan centre for tourists located on a beautiful sandy and shingled beach in the Portuguese Algarve.

In the town there are numerous shops, street vendors, craft stalls, parks and even a water park to enjoy. Nearby Portimao and its brand new marina are also close by and in the quaint village of Alvor there are great opportunities to sample more of the local Algarve culture. Alvor in particular really showcases the local fishing industry, so you should make the most of the just-caught flavours of the local seafood in its highly authentic Algarve restaurants.

In this region of Portugal there are many and varied things to enjoy, ranging from the more active scuba diving, water-skiing or snorkelling to relaxing pastimes such as trying the local cuisine, driving around the winding country lanes or taking in the Portuguese architecture. A hugely popular activity is that of taking a boat trip along the shore to explore the coastline and its wildlife as you can see the lagoons and admire the scenery from the cooling, calm sea.

Another great day out is an excursion to the region’s capital, Faro, to see some local museums or enjoy some Portuguese shopping! Faro boasts a beautiful old port area which contrasts with its modern marina. In the old town you can have fun losing yourself in a maze of winding alleys.
