Club Praia Da Rocha

Praia da Rocha is perhaps the Algarve’s best known and longest established holiday resort.
Famed for its creamy sands and stunning rock faces, it has been a popular choice of destination for travellers from all over the world since the 1930s. The resort continues to thrive and visitors have a wide variety of things to do, see and places to stay. Depending on what you need when you’re looking for holiday accommodation, the Club Praia da Rocha is certainly worthy of your consideration as it has much to offer and is located in just the right place for anyone looking for a combination of fun and relaxation.
The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal which means that it benefits from lovely weather all year round. Just a three hour flight from all London airports, Faro is the nearest airport to the resort and public transport, as well as tourist-operator transits make getting to and from the resort relatively simple.
Location
Literally translating as ‘Rock Beach’, Praia da Rocha certainly lives up to its name – it is a mile-long stretch of beautiful sand and crystal clear water overlooked by red and yellow sandstone cliffs and extraordinary rock formations. It is found at the mouth of the Arade estuary between the beautiful towns of Portimao and Alvor, some 40 miles west of Faro on the South of the Algarve.
Clube Praia da Rocha is one of the most prominent hotels in the town and is just 500 metres from the beach with steps leading directly to it. Those who don’t want to venture far from the hotel will find plenty to do as the complex is one of the largest in Praia da Rocha and actually consists of a number of interconnected buildings and apartments.
Facilities
There are approximately 627 guestrooms in a 12 storey property – as a three star hotel the complex has much to offer its visitors all at an affordable rate. Guests of the Club Praia da Rocha apartments will be able to enjoy a number of features in their rooms including en-suite, balcony, satellite television, kitchenette, fridge, telephone and safe. One bedroom apartments will have 3 or 4 beds of which two beds may be sofa-beds and/or pull out beds.
There are outdoor swimming pools for adults and children and winter guests can also enjoy the comforts of a heated indoor pool as well. There are two self-service restaurants and a pool bar, lounge bar, snack bar and cocktail bar. The Club Prai da Rocha offers an extensive selection of meals, snacks and drinks to suit the international crowds it attracts.
Things To Do Nearby
For those who like to keep active, there are plenty of things to keep you busy such as table tennis, tennis and swimming within the hotel complex and there are plenty of water sports to take part in along the waterfront of the beach such as kayaking, windsurfing and jet-skiing. The Algarve is also popular for its many golf courses and there are several nearby such as Alto and the Penina Championship course, as well as water-parks such as the Atlantic Park which is reasonably priced for a whole day’s worth of entertainment. Praia da Rocha has a lively nightlife with plenty of pubs, music bars, clubs and discos, but also offers a more intimate atmosphere for those who prefer a nice meal in a relaxing restaurant environment.
The Algarve is rich in history and strives to preserve those monuments that have already survived throughout the centuries. The promenade on Praia da Rocha’s cliff top leads to the Fortaleza de Santa Caterina, built in 1621 to defend Silves and Portimao against enemy fleets and makes for some excellent photograph opportunities. Portimao is just a short 3 kilometres north of Club Praia da Rocha and is quickly becoming a very popular destination with tourists thanks to its regeneration of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants; it’s also one of the best places in the Algarve to board a tour boat and view the Algarve coastline or even spot some of the Algarve’s most frequent visitors, the dolphins.
What Have Previous Guests Said?
When it comes to making your final decision about where to stay on your Algarve visit, perhaps taking note of what some of the Club Praia da Rocha’s previous guests have said may help. One young family who visited the complex said: “We just got back from Club Praia da Rocha. We loved it…They catered for everyone young and old”. Of course, the best way to form an opinion is to visit yourself..enjoy.

I did not enjoy this holiday at all there was no entertainment, would advise not to go here unless it is just a relaxing holiday you are looking for with nothing to do, the beach is lovely though and the staff are friendly! Would defiantly not go back.
