Built as recently as 1999, this modern hotel is made up of five buildings with a total of 140 apartments. Victors Plaza Portimao is particularly well equipped – even having a mini-market – and thus offers guests a particularly enjoyable and convenient stay in the Algarve.

Close to a beautiful sandy beach and the popular Algarve town of Portimao, this hotel combines the best of both worlds. It offers guests the opportunity to relax peacefully in the sunshine, as well as immersing themselves in some local culture. This hotel is particularly ideal for couples and families.

Location

Located in the western Algarve resort of Portimao, guests at Victors Plaza hotel will enjoy the glorious weather typical of the southern coast of Portugal. The hotel itself is situated 900 metres from a gloriously sandy beach, so not a too unreasonable distance for those who wish to spend a lot of time soaking up the Algarve sunshine on the beach.

As well as providing the perfect location to kick back and relax, Victors Plaza is also not too far from the popular resort of Portimao, and thus is perfect for guests who would like a calm and relaxing place to stay, though the convenience of a town nearby. The centre of Portimao is just 2.5 kilometres away from Victors Plaza, which is walking distance, though could also be reached by a short taxi ride. The nearest airport to the hotel is Faro Airport, which can be reached in approximately one hour by car.

The reception desk at Victors Plaza is open 24 hours a day, and offers a currency exchange facility. There is also an international newspaper stand, a small supermarket and a games room. For those who wish to explore the Algarve by hiring a car, the hotel has a garage and car park available. As for the apartments, each is air-conditioned, and has a separate bathroom, lounge and kitchenette with fridge, microwave, hobs and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a hairdryer, telephone, satellite television, radio, iron and ironing board, a safe and all apartments have a balcony or terrace. Apartments with easy wheelchair access are available.

Victors Plaza is set amongst 7,000 square metres of garden, within which is a beautiful pool – a great place to sit out and enjoy the glorious Algarve sunshine. For younger guests there is a childrens’ playground, as well as a kids’ club. The hotel also offers guests internet access, and wireless is available for a surcharge. Guests at Victors Plaza may also like to enjoy a taste of Algarve or international cuisine in the hotel’s á la carte restaurant (which is particularly welcoming to children), as well as enjoying a drink in the bar, or a boogie in the on-sight nightclub.

Things To Do Nearby

Not only is Praia da Rocha a beautiful place to soak up the sunshine, at this beach you can try a host of watersports, with everything from snorkelling and surfing to paragliding and motor-boating on offer. For water enthusiasts there is also a water park called ‘Slide and Splash’ just a short drive east of Portimao. Other activities available in the area include hiking in the nearby mountains, cycling and golf. The Algarve is home to some of Portugal’s best golf courses, and there are two a short drive from Victors Plaza.

For those wishing to explore a little of the local Algarve culture, Portimao is a great place to start. The newly built harbour is wonderful for a wander on a sunny afternoon, and the wide array of shops is perfect for buying some souvenirs. As a fishing town, Portimao also has some of the best seafood restaurants in the area, and is a great place to try local cuisine. For something a little quieter, the pleasant fishing village of Alvor is a must. For those interested in a little history, the fortress of Santa Catalina is a great place to explore, especially as there is now an al fresco café there which enjoys some spectacular views.

Many have praised the multilingual staff for their ‘friendly and welcoming attitude’, as well as noted how welcoming the hotel is to younger guests. The gardens and the pool are frequently noted as being a ‘lovely place to enjoy the sun’, and one mother commented that she felt her children were ’safe and happy’ at this hotel.

Whilst some guests feel that, at 2.5 kilometres, the hotel is a little far from the centre of Portimao, others enjoyed this distance, as they felt ‘further from the hustle and bustle’.
