Location
The Luar Hotel Algarve is conveniently located only 65 kms from the Algarve’s Faro Airport. It is well positioned for the centre of Portimao, which is 500 metres from the hotel. The beautiful town of Praia da Rocha is a stone’s throw away, with the hotel positioned on the cliffs at the west end of the town, overlooking the golden sands of the quiet Tres Castelos Beach.
The view from the hotel is stunning, looking out over Lagos and the bay. The restaurants and bars are 100 metres from the hotel. With all amenities close to the hotel, there is no need to leave the resort at all. Car hire is recommended though for discovering the beautiful rural inland area and for visiting other resorts along the Algarve coast.

Luar Hotel Algarve has 140 twin bedded rooms and 2 suites, each with excellent facilities including air conditioning, mini bar, phone, satellite TV, safety deposit box, en suite bathroom and terrace or balcony. There is an outdoor swimming pool and childrens’ pool, TV room, games room and reading room as well as a conference room.
The hotel also has its own bar which serves light meals, 24 hour reception desk, lift and lovely gardens to relax in and enjoy. There is a path leading through the gardens directly to the beach and town centre. Wireless network is also available at the hotel. Services provided by the hotel include laundry, airport shuttle, ironing service, currency exchange, fax and photocopying, car rental and free car parking.
Things To Do Nearby
Night life in the cosmopolitan town of Praia da Rocha is exciting, with many bars, restaurants and nightclubs as well as a casino situated along the front, on Tomas Cabreira Avenue. The Algarve is a great place to come and play golf all year round. The Luar Hotel Portimao is only 3 kms from the nearest golf course. The Palmares is to be found in nearby Lagos, whilst the Morgado do Reguengo is close to the lovely town of Silves. Penina is the world famous championship course.
The 17th century fortress of Santa Catarina de Ribamar is at the far end of Portimao and commands great views across the marina. There are plenty of water sports activities available on the beach, including water skiing and jet skiing and many interesting boat trips which depart from the Portimao river front.
For the kids there is a Splash and Slide water park in nearby Lagoa and Zoomarine in Albufeira, where you can watch dolphins, sea lions and birds of prey. Silves is a great place to visit for some historical insight into the Algarve’s history. Here you will discover a Moorish castle situated on the banks of the River Arade and you can reach Silves by boat, the trip taking around 1 hour. For a serious shopping trip, a visit to Guia’s Algarve Shopping Mall is a must.

Previous guests have enjoyed the wonderful pool at the hotel, as well as the close proximity to the beach, finding it convenient on hot days when it is easy to entertain the children without having to go too far from the accommodation. People have found that the gardens are great for sunbathing. The views from the hotel have been greatly appreciated by previous guests and they have found its location to be handy for restaurants and bars in the evening.
The hotel provides great value for money. Every local amenity is within a short walk of the hotel and the resort has everything the visitor needs for an enjoyable holiday.
