Iberotel Praia Monte Gordo
The Algarve, in the south of Portugal, has long been a favourite holiday spot for those seeking sun, great beaches and safe swimming. This region has fine scenery and excellent beaches, with rocky cliffs as dramatic backdrops and outcrops jutting out of the sea.
The Algarve is served by Faro Airport which is easily accessible from all the beach resorts. Monte Gordo is in the flatter part of the Algarve and the cliff faces are replaced by picturesque sand dunes. Location
The Iberotel Praia Algarve, which is also known as the Yellow Monte Gordo Hotel, is located right on the beautiful beach at Monte Gordo, which is 50 metres away. The hotel is close to shops, bars and restaurants as well as 3 casinos and the resort centre is a short stroll of 100 metres away. The Algarve’s Faro Airport is only 60 km away. The hotel is close to some good golf courses that are all within a short drive away.
Monte Gordo is at the eastern side of the Algarve, close to the Spanish border. Spain can easily be reached via a ferry from Vila Real, across the River Guardiana, only a couple of miles away and the boat trip takes under half an hour. Monte Gordo is a popular resort located in the flatter part of Portugal and so is great for people with mobility difficulties. The streets and pavements of Monte Gordo are wide and flat, making walking around the resort easy and it has remained largely unspoilt.

The Iberotel Praia Algarve has recently undergone refurbishment and has a lovely indoor swimming pool which is popular during the cooler months, as well as a beautiful outdoor pool with smaller kids’ pool attached. There is also a sauna, jacuzzi, fitness centre and massage centre. Evening entertainment is provided at the hotel, with live music and dancing. There is a restaurant at the hotel which caters for breakfast, lunch and evening meals, as well as 3 bars and a snack bar. There are 4 conference rooms at the Iberotel, which can be used for business meetings. There is also a laundry service.
The Iberotel has 366 rooms, across 16 floors, which are well equipped with bathroom, satellite TV, safety deposit box, hair dryer, mini bar and air conditioning. The rooms are modern, tastefully decorated and furnished and each has its own private balcony on which to relax and enjoy the views.
Things To Do Nearby
The flatness of this part of the Algarve makes it a popular area for walkers and those wishing to mountain bike and there is some beautiful scenery to enjoy only a couple of miles inland from Monte Gordo. The resort has plenty of shops, bars and cafes to investigate and the restaurants offer international and local Algarve cuisine. There are also many seafood restaurants here. The beach has soft golden sand and it shelves gently, making it a safe bathing area for children. There are water sports available on the beaches in the area, with a choice of water skiing, jet skiing, wind surfing and more.
As well as enjoying the resort and its many amenities and travelling across the Spanish border, there are some interesting villages which are worth visiting, located slightly inland from Monte Gordo. Castro Marim has both a fort and castle to investigate, as well as offering the charm of a bygone age in the Algarve. Enjoy some genuine Algarvian cuisine here, or enjoy a round of golf at the Castro Marim Golf Course. Other golf courses in the area include Quinta de Ria, Benamor and Quinta de Cima. Golfers are well catered for in the area, which is a popular place to enjoy year round golfing, due to the mild winters.

The rooms are the size of junior suites and are very spacious and comfortable. The rooms are very clean, with towel changes every day. The outdoor swimming pool is extremely clean with plenty of sun loungers close by. Views from the balcony across the Atlantic are stunning. The salad bar at the restaurant is excellent.
The Iberotel Praia Monte Gordo is a great place for children and there is even entertainment laid on especially for them. The smaller pool for children that is attached to the outdoor pool is well placed, making it easy to keep an eye on your kids whilst you relax on a sun lounger.
