The Guadiana Aparthotel is located at the eastern end of the Algarve, a region of Portugal that has some of the prettiest beaches and coves in Europe. The Algarve is very popular with tourists searching for relaxation, sun and sand.

Location

The Guadiana Aparthotel Algarve is situated on the lovely beach at Monte Gordo, just across the road. The nearest bus stop is 150 metres from the hotel, connecting the tourist to other beach resorts such as Albufeira. The nearest medical centre is 4 km away and the closest golf course to the resort is 4 km away. The hotel is close to many bars, restaurants, shops and cafes, as well as the casinos at the resort.

The eastern end of the Algarve is less built up and commercialised, offering a quieter resort for the visitor to enjoy. Night life here focuses on eateries, bars and casinos although there are a few late night clubs in Monte Gordo. The land is very flat in this part of the Algarve and because the pedestrianised streets and large squares are wide, Monte Gordo is an excellent place for people with limited mobility.

Things To Do Nearby

The neighbouring resort of Tavira is close and can be accessed by bus. It is useful to hire a car during a holiday in Monte Gordo and this can be rented for the day or entire holiday, so as to enjoy getting to know this beautiful part of the Algarve. Inland from the resort lies the town of Castro Marim, where you can discover the charm of its castle and fort, or play a round of golf at its own golf course. Other golf courses nearby include Quinta da Cima, Quinta da Ria and Benamor.

2 miles from Monte Gordo is Villa Real on the banks of the River Guadiana and a ferry service runs regularly across the river to Spain. The beaches in the Algarve cater for water sports enthusiasts and at Monte Gordo you can enjoy jet skiing, wind surfing and water skiing. Swimming is safe at the resort and the beach is backed by lovely sand dunes, making it ideal for families with children. There are jeep safaris running regularly to the nearby nature reserve, Reserva Natural do Sapal, which is a popular place for migrating birds. Here the bird spotter can view flamigos, avocets, sandpipers and storks, as well as over 150 different species of bird. The reserve is located at the salt pans close to Castro Marim. There are many boat trips available to other beaches and small coves, making a great day or evening out.

The outdoor pool is great for relaxing by, especially with small children and the location of the hotel makes it easy to alternate between the beach and pool with very little effort.
