Located less than half a kilometre from the beautiful Monte Gordo beach and within a few minutes’ walk of the town centre, the hotel is a great base for holidaymakers looking for a quiet break undisturbed by crowds of partiers.
Monte Gordo itself is a quiet fishing town that has recently become popular as a tourist resort. It now boasts good facilities, such as a wealth of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, but still retains its small-town, old-world charm. The whitewashed buildings, cobbled streets, relaxed squares and rustic traditional restaurants provide the ideal environment for a peaceful holiday basking in the warm Mediterranean sun.
The nearby beach is popular with all ages and the clear warm waters are perfect for swimming, fishing and watersports. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, ideal for exploring on foot, by bicycle or on horse back and guests can even pop over to Spain for the day – a quick ferry ride takes you to the Spanish border five kilometres away. The hotel lies within a 40 minute drive of Faro International Airport, the point of entry for most tourists visiting the Algarve and there are decent public transport links as well as hotel transfers and car hire available at the airport.

Simply but stylishly furnished, the hotel offers an outdoor pool and separate childrens’ pool, poolside bar and sun terrace with sun loungers, a restaurant serving breakfast each day, a separate bar and convenient extras such as laundry service.
Accomodation at the hotel is apartment-style, with all 103 units featuring a kitchenette and living/dining space. The apartments also feature balconies, great for relaxing in the evening with a meal and a drink. The apartments are all air conditioned and also feature private bathroom, satellite television, fridge and direct dial phone. In-room safes are available for a small additional charge.

A break in the Algarve can be relaxing or exhilerating, action-packed or laid back. Monte Gordo beach is the ideal place to practice watersports, have a kickabout on the sands, go for a jog, or simply lie back with a good book and soak up the warm sun. Hotel Alba Portugal is within a few miles of some of the world’s best golf courses, making it a perfect base for keen golfers heading here to practice their swing on the famous courses of the Algarve.
The nearby countryside is perfect for long walks, bike rides or horse riding trips and there are any number of idyllic spots to stop for a picnic along the way. Those with access to a hire car might want to get off the beaten track and discover the unspoilt Algarve coast and lush inland, where little whitewashed villages and fruit trees dot the landscape. Whilst Monte Gordo is not a party town, there are plenty of pleasant, relaxed bars and any number of excellent restaurants. The town’s casino hosts regular shows in the evenings and is a popular late-night spot.

One reviewer, who was returning to Hotel Alba for a second break, enjoyed a fantastic’ two weeks at the hotel. The reviewer loved the ‘polite and friendly staff’, adding that ‘nothing is ever too much trouble for them’. The happy customer also found the Monte Gordo locals to be ‘wonderfully friendly’ and enjoyed the ‘fantastic food and wine’ at nearby restaurant O’Jamie.
Another reviewer found Hotel Alba to be ‘good value’ and enjoyed the location in a quiet area but close to the beach and restaurants.The reviewer commented that the rooms are ‘clean, comfortable and air-conditioned’ and added that the kitchenette is very well equipped. The reviewer also liked the pool area and found the breakfast to be ‘more than adequate.’
