The Villa Mar Azul Hotel’s location could not be better. In a tranquil spot overlooking the white sands of Porto de Mos beach, this is the Algarve at its scenic best. Secluded and romantic, the villa is just two kilometres from the centre of Lagos, a former fishing town turned tourist resort that boasts fascinating historic architecture as well as excellent restaurants, lively nightlife, plenty of shops and beautiful beaches nearby. Several of the world-famous Algarve golf courses can be found in the vicinity of the hotel, as can tourist must-sees such as the fortress at Ponta da Bandeira.
Holidaymakers arriving in the Algarve from oversees will probably arrive at Faro International Airport, which is around 80 kilometres from the villa and within easy reach by hire car or airport transfer. The hotel is just two hours from Lisbon, the capital of Portugal and the Spanish city of Seville.

A chic villa that offers excellent value for money, Villa Mar Azul offers just 10 apartments, all of which boast self-catering facilities. Each of the guest units is airconditioned and each features a balcony or terrace along with a kitchenette with cooking facilities; Internet access; private bathroom with hairdryer; satellite television and – for an extra charge – safe deposit box for storing valuables.
As accommodation is on a self-catering basis, the hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are plenty of excellent dining options nearby offering a range of traditional Algarve dishes as well as international cuisine to suit all budgets. The villa’s pool is the ideal spot for cooling off after soaking up some Algarve sun and there is even the option of a relaxing massage for those who really want to unwind. There are plenty of facilities for families, too, including a childrens’ pool and cots on request. A babysitting service can be arranged for an extra charge. The villa also offers car rental services, car parking and a laundry service.

While the Algarve is a wonderful location for holidaymakers who want to relax and get away from it all, there is no shortage of opportunity for action and adventure in the area. The resort town of Lagos offers ample opportunity to practice watersports on the Meditterranean sea, with everything from wind surfing to deep sea diving easily arranged in the resort. Snorkelling, sailing and swimming options are pleasant options for those who like things a little less adrenaline-packed. The surrounding countryside is perfect for long bicycle rides and walks and horse riding is another popular activity in the area.
The golf courses of the Algarve are legendary and golfers flock here each year to play on some of the world’s best courses. There are several to be found within a few kilometres of the Villa Mar Azul and there are also scores of idyllic, secluded beaches to be found close by the hotel.

One reviewer was pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation at the Villa Mar Azul Lagos. The reviewer commented that the low cost of her stay was not reflected in the quality and found the rooms ‘clean, spacious and with everything we needed’.
The rooms were clean, spacious and with everything we needed including toiletries in the bathroom. We hired beach/pool towels from the hotel which helped as it saved our luggage allowance! The reviewer described the nearby beach as ‘gorgeous’ and found the hotel to be extremely peaceful at night. The reviewer, who stayed at the Villa Mar Azul with a group of friends, said they could not wait to return.
Another satisfied customer, who loved their ‘very large’ studio apartment, described the location as ‘a beautiful, secluded part of town’.
