Tourists visiting the Algarve in Portugal for the first time are in for a treat, as this beautiful area of Portugal is famous as being one of the top holiday destinations in Europe.

Location
The Monte Doiro Refugio Algarve is an exclusive hotel with a well regarded reputation. It is located on a hill top in North Western Lagos. It has a beautiful and panoramic view across famous Lagos bay, with mountains framing the landscape on one side, and the beach of Meia Praia to the other!
The airport is just over an hour’s transfer away and the hotel is well located for activities such as nearby Algarve golf courses, the town with all its attractions and other sports, leisure and family facilities. The beach is very close to the hotel and easily accessible, as is Lagos town centre with all its lively attractions and shopping facilities. There are some great restaurants here too, and a lively night life scene with some excellent bars and cafes.
Facilities
The Monte Doiro Refugio Algarve is air-conditioned throughout and guests are welcomed by the friendly reception staff who man the information desk throughout the day and night.
There is currency exchange on site for convenience and a safe for storing any valuables. Other services include laundry and babysitting and bikes can be rented if guests wish to take advantage of the Algarve’s many cycling tracks. There is car parking outside which is free for guests and ideal for those who are organising hire cars for their holidays.
The hotel is sumptuous and luxurious, and it has seventeen double or twin rooms. There is a beautiful garden which is tended with exotic blooms and verdant greenery and the pool area is a particular highlight, with a stretching cool pool and lovely sun terrace area with plenty of sun loungers and parasols for guests to use whilst sunbathing. There is also a sun terrace which doubles up as the breakfast room for the continental buffet breakfast which is served daily. Other meals are also served here and there’s a small convenient bar.
The Monte Doiro Refugio Design Hotel also has a health centre which has an open air jacuzzi, a sauna and as an original twist, the hotel also has a well stocked wine cellar and offers wine tasting experiences to guests!
Things To Do Nearby
The Algarve has a huge amount to offer holiday makers. Those guests staying at the Monte Doiro will find plenty to occupy them! There is horse-riding to enjoy, as well as cycling and many tracks to explore for walking. Sporty guests will love the many racquet and ball courts and there are of course many water-sports such as sailing, diving and water skiing at the beach.
Other attractions include the world famous Algarve golf courses, aquamarines, parks, playgrounds and go-karting and water parks. The marina is also great for walking around and stopping for some food and drink, and Lagos town is beautiful to look at and has all the attractions you’d expect from a popular resort tourist town.
What Have Previous Guests Said?
Guests said that this hotel was luxurious and well run. One guest said that the rooms were beautiful and very comfortable with very large beds and a great view.
One couple had a complimentary massage as part of their hotel package and they really recommended it, finding it the perfect start to a relaxing holiday. Another couple said that this Algarve hotel was great for a quiet getaway, and the rooms were clean and the hotel well situated. They also recommended some great local restaurants and suggested that a hire car would be useful for daily trips. Luz was felt to be worth exploring, as it’s quieter than Lagos.
One further reviewer said that the swimming pool was lush and clean and the breakfast was fantastically big and had some great food to enjoy. He also found the local taxis to be useful for getting into Lagos at night and they were cheap too.
