Marina Sao Roque

The Algarve in Portugal is a perennially popular holiday destination for thousands of UK travellers every year.

This part of Portugal is particularly popular with holiday-makers because of the many hours of sunshine, and excellent sports and leisure facilities. The Algarve has miles of stretching beaches, friendly resorts, cultural little towns and villages and many sporting and entertainment attractions on offer. There are also a great range of varied accommodations for tourists to take advantage of – everything from cheap and cheerful apart hotels, to exclusive and chic boutique hotels.

Location

The Hotel Marina Sao Roque is located very nearby the Yacht Harbour which is very popular with those seeking a walk, perfect views and relaxing drinks or food. The hotel is also just a fifteen minute walk away from the nearest beach, which makes it a great option for families seeking a sunshine holiday. Lagos town centre is about ten minutes away – accessible by foot or just a short taxi journey.

The Algarve airport is just about an hour or so transfer away which makes it a convenient taxi transfer. The hotel is also well located for central attractions and local walks and cycling or horse riding tracks etc.

Facilities

The Hotel Marina Sao Roque is a three star family run hotel, and this personal approach is reflected in the high service on offer. There is a round-the-clock manned reception with helpful staff, who can also change currencies for guests.

There’s a safe for keeping valuables in and a lift for added convenience. Guests can enjoy relaxing in the TV room and there’s also an a la carte air-conditioned restaurant in the hotel with a great menu to enjoy. There is also internet access accessible from a public computer in the hotel lobby, and there’s a bike storage garage which is great for guests who wish to hire bikes for enjoying the local cycling tracks. For the kids there’s a games room equipped with toys and a range of games.

There’s a car park for those who have got hire cars, and full laundry and room service is on offer for guests too. Outside there’s a pool and sun terrace area, with deckchairs, sun loungers and sun parasols available and there’s a nicely tended garden with shaded areas for those who prefer to stay out of the sun, with outdoor toilets for extra convenience.

The rooms are decorated simply and in a traditional Algarve style. They are double rooms with private facilities. Each room has centrally controlled air conditioning, a balcony or terrace with views of the Algarve landscape and Lagos resort, a TV and phone and an en suite bathroom with bath and shower. There are also single rooms and also larger suites which are available for an extra charge. Cots can be arranged for babies, but need to be booked beforehand.

Things To Do Nearby

The Marina Sao Roque is excellently located for the Algarve resort’s attractions. it is just a five minute walk away from the marina, which has a lot to recommend it, including cafes with terraces, great restaurants and bars – as well as the boats of course, some of which are on offer for sailing trips. It’s a lovely place to walk around on a sunny afternoon or to take in the sights at night.

The hotel is also just ten minutes walk from Lagos town which is lively and entertaining, with street entertainers, shops, a variety of nightlife and restaurants, and buzzing squares. The beach is around fifteen minutes away from the Marina Sao Roque, and it’s a lovely one too with golden sands. Of course the Algarve is extremely well known for its golf courses, and several of these are located just a few kilometres away and an easy taxi ride.

What Have Previous Guests Said?

One guest said that the hotel was excellently priced and comfortable, if basic. She found the fact it was family run to be a real bonus as the staff were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make their guests comfortable.

She pointed out that the barman remembered which drinks they liked each evening and the staff made time to chat with guests and recommend things to do etc. Another first time visitor to the Algarve was impressed with the quality of accommodation and said that the rooms were kept very clean, with the maid coming to change the towels every couple of days. He said that the hotel restaurant was very good and the hotel was great for a relaxing holiday with the personal touch and described it as being like a home from home.
