Location

The Marina Rio hotel in popular Lagos resort is conveniently located just several minutes away from the town centre on foot, and equally close to the old town’s attractions. It is situated within easy walking distance of the attractive promenade, nearby the marina which is a highly popular landmark in the Algarve’s sunny landscape, with many colourful picturesque boats, surrounded by lively bars, chic cafes and international restaurants.

This hotel can be reached in only a few minutes’ walk from Lagos centre and the old town. The hotel’s situation alongside the promenade and marina provides an attractive and far reaching view over the busy harbour. The nearest five kilometre-long beach of Meia Praia lies just 1.5 km from the hotel and is within walking distance or easily reached with a bus or a boat. Restaurants, varied shopping venues, atmospheric bars, quiet pubs and a nightclub are all within 1 km of the hotel.

Facilities

The Marina Rio Hotel is well equipped to deal with a wide variety of visitors and family groups. Built recently in 1990, it was renovated in early 2003 and now has 36 double bedrooms laid out over four floors. There are good facilities such as a fully manned reception desk with multi lingual staff on hand 24 hours a day, a safe for valuables and a lift for extra convenience. Guests can take advantage of the bar, a games room, a TV watching room and a spacious air-conditioned breakfast buffet room. There is also an internet terminal for public access. Guests can use the hotel’s garage if they are hiring cars, and there is also a babysitting and laundry service.

Outside there is a lovely terrace with great views of the nearby marina, and there is a spacious pool, with parasols and sunloungers available for guests – along with bath towels. The rooms are furnished in a comfortable and fresh Algarve style, and each has an en suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, and a hairdryer. There’s a direct dial phone and TV, along with air conditioning, internet and a balcony or terrace. Many of the rooms offer a great view of the Algarve landscape and sea.

Things To Do Nearby

There’s a lot to do nearby, with the hotel located just half a kilometre away from the Lagos town centre. This part of the Algarve has some great things to do too and there’s a golf course just 4km away. Lagos marina is also famous in the Algarve and has lots of lovely restaurants and bars to enjoy, as well as pleasant walks around the boats. Guests can take advantage of sailing and boat rides here. There are plenty of other things to do in Lagos and the wider Algarve. Visitors can enjoy activities such as horse riding along the country lanes, visiting other Algarve resorts or small towns and villages in the countryside, play tennis or squash or take part in water sports such as sailing, diving and jetskiing.

One guest said that this four star Algarve hotel was a favourite that they’d be returning to again. They commented on the great location and said they’d spent a lot of time taking advantage of the nearby town, marina and sporting activities. The Algarve golf courses also got a favourable mention! Another guest said that the staff were friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself was clean and well maintained, with comfortable rooms, good outdoor facilities and a good breakfast.
