Pestana Levante Hotel, Armacao de Pera

With its idyllic beaches, sun kissed shores, lush inland, fascinating history and rich local culture, the Algarve region of Portugal is deservedly one of Europe’s most enduringly popular holiday destinations.
The region enjoys more hours of sunshine than anywhere else on the continent, and the climate is pleasantly warm and sunny virtually all year round. Whilst the Algarve is famous as a golfing destination, it increasingly attracts adventure tourists and water sports enthusiasts, but it’s also ideal for those who just want to enjoy a little R&R. Located in the small resort of Armacao de Tera, the four-star Pestana Levante Hotel is ideal for holidaymakers who want to slow down and take it easy, thanks to its tranquil location just a few steps away from beautiful Algarve beaches dotted with enchanting coves.
Location
The Pestana Levante Hotel enjoys an idyllic location overlooking the bay of Armacao de Pera. Once just a small collection of fishing cottages, the resort is now a bustling Algarve tourist haven, awash with holiday apartments and boasting plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
Whilst the resort buzzes with tourist activity during the height of summer, it remains pleasantly peaceful outside of high season. Algarve holidaymakers looking for something even more tranquil might want to visit the nearby rural fishing village of Pera, which remains wonderfully sleepy and unspoilt. Beach lovers flock to Armacao de Pera each year to take advantage of the perfect beach – one of the longest in the Algarve. Several of the Algarve’s renowned golf courses lie within easy reach of the hotel, and holidaymakers can feast themselves each evening at the fish restaurants that lie right on the sands at the Eastern side of the town, serving fresh fish caught that day by local fishermen. The resort also lies close to the pristine Algarve beaches of Senhora da Rocha, and is less than an hour’s drive from Faro Airport, the main hub for this area of Portugal.

Facilities
This modern, well equipped hotel has a wealth of facilities to offer its guests. There is a large outdoor pool which is heated in colder weather, making it a possibility for out-of-season visits.
There is also a separate kids’ pool and a health club that boasts a gym, sauna and even a steam bath. Mini golf and a games room provide further on site entertainment to keep children and adults alike entertained, whilst a buffet restaurant serves full meals and drinks. During the summer months, a poolside bar serves snacks and drinks, and there are plenty of sun beds for Algarve holidaymakers working on their tans as well as sun umbrellas and towels.
Things to do nearby
The ocean waters that wash the beach at Armacao de Pera offer plenty of opportunity to practice water sports, ever popular in this primarily coastal region. Alternatively, a short drive or (if you are feeling energetic) bicycle ride inland will take you through some superb orange groves and vineyards and on to sleepy whitewashed villages such as Porches, famous for its beautiful pottery and ceramics.
Swimming, sailing, fishing, horse riding and bike rides are all popular activities in the area and hiring a car is a good option for those who want to explore the beauty of the wider Algarve region. Needless to say, you are never too far away from one of the world class Algarve golf courses.
