Alvor is situated 4 kilometres away from the commercial town of Portimão, which has an excellent shopping centre, and is approximately 3 kilometres away from Praia da Rocha and Praia da Vau, which are popular amongst tourists in Portugal for their busy night life and packed beaches. Also nearby, Quinta da Rocha Nature Reserve makes for a perfect outdoors getaway and Faro Airport is roughly 60-90 minutes away by car. Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel is quite literally a few strides away from Alvor’s 7 kilometres of golden sandy beach.
Rooms
The Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel was completely refurbished in 2001 and is part of the Pestana Dom Joao Complex, which is a resort that is conveniently positioned just off Alvor beach.
The hotel rooms comprise air conditioning, bedroom, kitchenette, living area and either a balcony or terrace. The kitchenette includes a cooking ring, toaster and a coffee machine. The rooms also feature satellite television, radio, telephone, hairdryer and a safety deposit box for an additional charge. Maid service is thorough and regular. In summary, these spacious and tastefully decorated rooms offer excellent value for money in comparison to similar accommodation in Portugal’s Alvor resort.
Facilities
When discussing hotel facilities, the Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel truly stands out from all others in the Alvor resort. Friendly and helpful staff attend the reception desk, whilst room cleaning is carried out regularly throughout the week. The hotel features no less than 5 swimming pools – 2 outdoor saltwater pools, 1 of which is heated in the winter, 2 childrens’ pools and an indoor heated saltwater pool!
Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel is certain to keep sports lovers happy with its provision of tennis courts, water sports centre – which includes a diving school from June to September – table tennis, snooker table, driving range and bowling. Furthermore, a putting green is situated 500 metres away at the Pestana Delfim Hotel but within the same resort complex. As if this was not enough, the Atlantico Alvor also features internet access, childrens’ playgrounds, mini golf, live music in the Bar do Principe, a gym, sauna, Turkish bath and even a giant chess board! Special discounts on Pestana Golf Courses are also offered to hotel guests. More traditional facilities include the Pavilhao do Rei Restaurant and various pool and beach side snack bars. The Pestana Alvor Atlantico Alvor is quite simply one of the most entertaining hotels in Portugal.

Guests staying at the Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel will find that there are many things to do besides basking in the warm Algarve sunshine. Indeed, popular activities in the Alvor resort include cycling, walking and horse riding.

The Pestana Alvor Atlantico Hotel is a favourite amongst guests staying in Portugal. The direct access and close proximity to Alvor resort’s golden sandy beach is perhaps the primary reason for this, although guests have also applauded the spacious and immaculate hotel rooms, friendly staff and sheer diversity of activities available.
In fact, the only negative feedback has suggested that, because there is so much to do in the hotel complex, walking to and from some of the facilities can prove an arduous task for disabled or older guests.
