Casa De Alvor Hotel – Alvor, Algarve

Location

The Alvor resort is located just 4 kilometres away from the busy commercial town of Portimão, which is certainly worth a visit, and approximately 3 kilometres away from the beaches of Praia da Rocha and Praia da Vau, which are extremely popular amongst tourists in Portugal. For nature lovers or those in search of the outdoor experience, Quinta da Rocha Nature Reserve is also nearby.

Faro Airport is roughly one hour away by car. Although the Algarve borders the Atlantic Ocean, its climate is described as Mediterranean. Therefore, the area enjoys some of the best weather conditions in Portugal, with 3,000 hours of annual sunshine and summer temperatures topping 30 Celsius. Casa De Alvor Hotel is a relaxing 10-15 minute stroll away from the beach and only a little further from the main cobbled streets of Alvor.

Rooms

The Casa De Alvor Hotel features three floors consisting of 51 apartments, which overlook the large swimming pool area at the front of the building. The apartments are type T1, which typically comprise a large bedroom that sleeps up to 4 people, air conditioning, bathroom with a shower over the bath, kitchenette and balcony. There is also a fridge and the possibility of cooking light meals in the kitchen area, which is especially useful when on a self-catering holiday!

There are also larger sized rooms available that contain several bedrooms, but even the smallest rooms are spacious and well furnished. The Casa De Alvor apartments provide excellent accommodation in Portugal’s beautiful and peaceful Alvor resort.

Facilities

The Casa De Alvor Hotel, whose reception desk is open from 9am to 6pm, features a bar and an excellent outdoor swimming pool with a large patio area, sun loungers and sun umbrellas.

Additionally, guests can avail themselves of the poolside bar service, although many will be keen to make the short journey down to the Alvor resort’s main beach. Room service is in operation several times a week although potential guests should be aware that there is no lift access in the Casa De Alvor apartments. The most striking feature of this hotel in one of Portugal’s most relaxing resorts is the size of some of its rooms and the peaceful cul-de-sac in which they are situated.

Things to do in Alvor

The Alvor resort is well known for its traditional fish and seafood dishes, which are served in the many restaurants situated close to the Casa De Alvor Hotel. Notwithstanding this, many visitors to this quiet region of Portugal come for some of its relaxing and enjoyable activities. These include walking and cycling, which are popular pastimes on Alvor’s smooth, flat roads.

Alvor also offers horse riding, golf and various water-based pursuits such as snorkelling, windsurfing and scuba diving. Nevertheless, tourists will spend much of their time bathing in the warm Mediterranean sunshine on the golden sandy beach. Furthermore, when a little more adventure is required, tourists will find themselves within travelling distance of the casino, nightclubs and bars of Portimão and Praia da Rocha.

What have previous guests said?

The Casa De Alvor in Portugal attracted very good reviews especially in response to the size of its apartment rooms. Indeed, one customer in particular had paid for a single bedroom but was instead provided with a three bedroom apartment that had two bathrooms!

The only minor grievance raised by guests was that, although extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel’s staff lacked a comprehensive knowledge of the English language. In any case, this only resulted in minor confusion and nobody raised any specific complaint. Indeed, the Casa De Alvor provides a truly excellent service that, in comparison to more expensive hotels found along Portugal’s Algarve, offers exceptional value for money.
