The idyllic coastal retreat of Alvor is located in the Algarve, which is the southernmost region of Portugal and comprises sun-kissed beaches, which are interspersed amongst rugged cliffs and curious natural grottoes and lagoons.

A popular resort with both families and couples, who can enjoy a pleasant stay at the three star Alvorferias Apartments, Alvor is Portugal at its most splendid.

Location

The Alvorferias resort in Alvor is situated within 5 kilometres of the commercial town of Portimão and is also close to the beaches of Praia da Rocha and Praia da Vau, which are extremely popular with tourists in Portugal.

Quinta da Rocha Nature Reserve is also nearby and the Alvorferias resort itself is under 70 kilometres from Faro Airport. Alvorferias Apartments are located approximately 900 metres, or a casual 20 minute walk, away from Alvor’s long, sandy beach. Tourists will also discover a natural lagoon and pockets of small coves amongst the surrounding cliffs, which are typical of the Algarve’s stunning natural beauty. The main town of Alvor and its lively bars, shops and restaurants are also within walking distance of the beach and the Alvorferias Apartments.

Rooms

The Alvorferias Apartments comprises 250 rooms on 4 floors, all of which include a private bathroom, kitchenette and either a terrace or a balcony overlooking the sites of Alvor. Each bathroom contains a bath and a shower, whilst the kitchenette has a fridge and a gas oven with three cooking rings.

The apartments also offer a safety deposit box, internet access and a direct dial telephone. The modern décor and appropriate furnishings allow for a comfortable and relaxing stay, whilst friendly cleaning staff attend the apartments daily to maintain standards. In comparison to other hotels in Portugal’s Algarve, the Alvorferias Apartments provides clean, minimalistic and yet relatively spacious accommodation.

Facilities

The three star Alvorferias Apartments boasts many facilities that rival hotels in the Alvor area of Portugal cannot match. These include an Á la carte restaurant with an al fresco terrace, coffee shop and bar. There are also two large swimming pools, both fully equipped with sunbeds, a childrens’ playground and a gift shop. In addition to this, there is a television lounge with video games, tennis facilities, day and evening entertainment including karaoke and two minimarkets.

Located just 900 metres from Alvor beach, guests also do not have far to walk to find other restaurants, shops and bars. Indeed, the old Algarve town is only a 10-15 minute walk away from the apartments and the Alvor resort centre itself is much closer.

Things to do in the Alvorferias Resort

The Algarve’s Mediterranean sun is obviously a major draw for tourists flocking to Alvor, but bronzed bodies can be perfected away from the sandy beaches and whilst pursuing other activities in the resort. Indeed, two of the most popular pastime pursuits in Alvor are walking and cycling – largely, no doubt, because of the fine weather, fresh air and the flat, clear roads.

The Algarve is also a very popular golfing destination and Alvor is no exception – golfers the world over are drawn to its 30 top class golf courses. Tennis is also popular in the Algarve resort as too is horse riding, with the availability of beginner and advanced lessons. Alvor also has numerous water parks, many of which are designed specifically for young children, in addition to boat trips open for all ages.

Guest Feedback of the Alvorferias Apartments

Guests of the Alvorferias Apartments in Portugal have been impressed by the practical accommodation, friendly staff and idyllic Algarve surroundings. One guest in particular spoke of his stay at the resort with his wife and two children. While the walk to the beach may be awkward for elderly visitors, he advised, it was a relaxing stroll for most and the walk into the town was just as pleasant.

A handful of guests reported that the swimming pool facilities were a highlight of their holiday, whilst most others enjoyed the food on offer at the Alvorferias Á la carte restaurant and the balcony space adjoining the apartments. In regard to the Alvor area, the consensus among UK tourists is that the town is a resort mainly for couples and families.
