Alagoa Praia Norte Hotel – Altura

The Algarve is an immensely popular location for UK holidaymakers looking for something a world away from life in Britain. The region offers some of the most pleasant weather in Europe, and has a range of straightforward transport links with the UK.

The Algarve covers Portugal’s southernmost tip, and therefore benefits from a Mediterranean climate, whilst also offering Atlantic beaches. The flora and fauna in the Algarve display a range of colours almost as breathtaking as the hills, cliffs and beaches themselves. There is now a range of holidays available in the Algarve, with every type of resort from golfing trips, to high nightlife holidays to quiet picturesque breaks.

Location

The Alagoa Praia Norte is located just 800 metres from one of Altura’s most enjoyable beaches. The complex is also very conveniently situated for the Altura resort itself. It is just 200 metres from bars and local restaurants, as well as local gift, clothes and general supply shops.

For exploring other places locally, there is a bus stop also located around 200 metres from the complex. In addition, there is a nightclub a few miles away, allowing access to some of the resort’s more lively activities. Monte Gordo offers additional night life opportunities (such as a casino, and local themed events) if you’re willing to travel a little further than Altura itself. The region is located close to the Spanish border (one or two hours drive) making short trips around the Seville region a possibility.

Rooms

The complex was completed in 2001, and therefore offers a clean and modern set of facilities for all guests. Each room is equipped with satellite or cable television, with a range of local and world channels.

For security, there is a safe located within each apartment, allowing you to store your valuables without taking them with you. Rooms have their own shower room, so there is no need to share facilities with other guests, as in some older complexes. To allow you to prepare food from the Algarve yourself, there is a kitchenette in each apartment, along with local shops in Altura selling a range of supplies.

Facilities

The complex has its own reception desk to help guests with key collection and delivery at the end of their time in the Algarve, as well as with money exchange and internet access. The complex is also surrounded by over 200 square metres of gardens and recreational space.

There is a swimming pool available to guests, along with sun loungers. The complex offers tennis courts for guests’ own use, and it is also possible to hire mountain bikes to get a different perspective of the region during your stay in the Algarve. The complex has its own café bar, giving an alternative option to always preparing food yourself or to venturing out to one of the local restaurants or cafés.

Things to do nearby the Alagoa Praia Norte Hotel – Altura

There is one of the Algarve’s many famous golf courses located about two miles away from the complex, available for use on a pay as you play basis, and there are several others dotted about the area. Altura itself offers five blue flag level beaches, and over 150 km of beaches to choose from, which mostly attract families, with a few being used also by wind surfers.

Other watersports are widely available. The Parque Natural da Ria Formosa is a protected area of natural beauty, which makes this area guaranteed for excellent sea views. Tavira is a Roman Town that still has many attractive architectural gems available for visitors, including a Roman bridge that connects the two sides of the town.

One guest who has visited Portugal before, but who hasn’t visited the Algarve commented on the level of the facilities at the complex, in comparison to other apartments he has stayed at. He was especially pleased with the surrounding gardens, which gave the complex a relaxing feel.

Another guest was pleased with the cleanliness of the building and the fact that there was a pool available for guests. He noted that the walk to the beach did not seem as far as he thought, and was impressed by the views from local beaches, and the fact that they were not too busy. Both guests had mentioned the atmosphere in local bars and restaurants and said that they would come again.
