Location

The four star Hotel Sol E Mar is a comfortable hotel accommodation, well situated for the beach and nearby bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.

The hotel is ideal for couples, groups and families looking for a relaxing holiday with the emphasis on the beach, and the hotel rooms and restaurant have excellent views of the beach and sea. The Sol E Mar Hotel Albufeira is located centrally – directly by the beach in Albufeira’s old town. It has an access way below which leads right down to the beachfront. It’s worth noting however that the hotel’s location probably isn’t suitable for those with walking or mobility difficulties, as the hotel is only accessible from the beach or town by steep steps.

Rooms

The Sol E Mar has 74 double rooms over six floors.

Each room has air conditioning which is controlled from within the room, heating, an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower, a fridge, a radio and a safe – and also a balcony or terrace. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and have been decorated in traditional, restful colours.

Facilities

The Sol E Mar has good facilities such as a fully manned reception desk which is open around the clock.

There are lifts in the pleasantly decorated lobby, which also has sofas for relaxing in. There is a safe for guests to store any valuables and a currency exchange facility. Indoors there is also a television and games room and internet access. There is also an a la carte restaurant on site in which the breakfast buffet is also served, and an indoor swimming pool. Laundry services are also available. There is an entertainments programme on in the evening for guests to enjoy.

Things to do near Sol E Mar Albufeira

The Algarve is famous for its beaches, and there are a great many to choose from. They have won awards for clean waters and the sands are golden and unspoilt. Many of the larger beaches are manned with lifeguards in the high season and there are plenty of useful changing and refreshment facilities close by.

The Algarve is also famous for its golf courses, and there are also plenty of these to enjoy – ask your hotel reception for details of what’s available. For those who enjoy being active there are also sports such as diving, sailing, cycling, horse riding, tennis and swimming and there are plenty of gentle walks around. The resorts are well worth visiting for an evening’s drinks or dinner – for example Albufeira resort has its famous ‘strip’ with all sorts of places to enjoy a drink, a meal or a dance – or to pick up a spot of shopping.

There is also a lovely marina to visit. For those who enjoy exploring further afield, there are plenty of local towns and villages with their own history and culture – and often some excellent regional restaurants.

Guests have offered good feedback. One reviewer said that the guests tended to be older and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly – with the staff being very pleasant and willing to help. She particularly enjoyed the location by the beach and the buffet breakfast, and said that it was great having the square and the marina within close walking distance.

Another guest said that the views were fantastic from the rooms and that the location was great for walking into town and nipping down to the beach. He also liked the quiet and peaceful atmosphere and noted that the residents tended to be older, with fewer young families staying. Another reviewer said that the bar was very pleasant and the hotel staff were excellent, with the hotel rooms being regularly refreshed and cleaned and the entire hotel being spotless.

Again, he recommended the location as being a key attraction of the hotel – with the old town and all the attractions of the marina and square in brief walking distance.
