The Algarve in Portugal has long been a favourite destination of tourists.

Location

The Silchoro Apartments Algarve are a new purpose-built complex of self catering holiday apartments located in Montechoro, around two kilometres from Albufeira town centre, less than a kilometre away from the famous Albufeira resort ‘Strip’ and about 1.5 kilometres away from the beach.

The apartments are located over several floors and are all fully stocked with self catering essentials. The hotel location is ideal for groups and families, with shops, restaurants and bars all within close walking distance. The nearest supermarket is only 400 metres away from the hotel.

Rooms

The Silchoro Apartments Algarve have 114 self catering apartments suitable for two to six people. Each apartment has a balcony with a view, a kitchenette with hob, microwave, fridge, hot drink making facilities and cutlery/glasses etc. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower and each room also has a television, a telephone and air conditioning. Larger rooms also have sofa beds and cots are available if pre-booked through reception.

Facilities

The Silchoro Apartments are well provided for. There is a restaurant on site offering a mix of regional and international favourites, a bar for evening drinks and a coffee shop. Outdoors there is a spacious swimming pool with a separate splash pool for children. Around the pool there are plenty of loungers and parasols for sunbathers and the pool is surrounded by gardens. There is also a tennis court on site and the hotel puts on a courtesy bus four times daily (except Sunday) to nearby Oura beach and Albufeira beach - free of charge for guests. The hotel also has a fully staffed reception area in the lobby and the multi-lingual staff are on hand to help with any queries.

Things to do nearby

The great thing about the Algarve is that it’s packed with activities and facilities for tourists.

Of course one of the main draws of the Algarve is the sunshine and the beautiful beaches - and there are plenty to choose from, each with their own characteristics and attractions. Some of these beaches are manned by lifeguards in high season, making them ideal for families, and there are good changing and refreshment facilities alongside the beach fronts.

Those who enjoy more active pursuits might enjoy guided horse riding tours, cycling along the countryside cycle routes, taking long walks alongside the coastline and through the towns, or maybe having a go at some water sports - everything from high adrenaline water skiing or diving, to escorted passenger boat tours around the Algarve harbours.

For kids there’s also a great deal to choose from - there are plenty of playgrounds, water and theme parks, quad biking and carting, amusement arcades and swimming pools. Everyone will enjoy exploring Albufeira resort with the famous buzzing ’strip’ with lively bars, popular restaurants serving regional and international cuisine, cool bars and terrace cafes - and a wide range of boutique shops and supermarkets. Nearby places such as Villamoura with its harbour are also worth a visit and Portugal has plenty of other nearby towns and villages with great cultural attractions to explore.

One reviewer said that the apartments offered excellent value for money for accommodation - and she’d got a fantastic deal on her stay! She also commended the staff for being very welcoming and said that the maid service came in to change the towels and refresh the room every day. Location also scored highly, with another reviewer saying that his group found it extremely convenient for nights out at the strip and days on the nearby beach!

One other guest also said that the Silchoro Apartments were very friendly and they found the hotel food good. She said that it provided an excellent base to explore the Algarve and take advantage of the nearby nightlife! Finally one other guest said that she’d been pleasantly surprised with the size of her apartment and the bathroom. She also said that the sofa beds were very handy and comfortable.
