Having said that however, it is located in a traffic free area of the town, so there are no worries about noisy traffic passing directly by the rooms at night. It’s a three star hotel and is, by definition, close to all the city’s shops and various attractions.

There are childcare services and a range of other facilities on offer for visitors. The room service is regular and comprehensive and there is also vehicle hire available which the hotel staff will help you to organise.
The hotel offers an outdoor pool with sunloungers on the roof top terrace and its sister hotel, Hotel California Albufeira is just 50 metres up the road, which is where breakfast and other meals can be taken – as there is no restaurant in the Hotel Polana itself. The Hotel Polana a budget-friendly and cosily appointed hotel, typical of those often found at the budget end of the scale in the Algarve, with simple rooms with air-conditioning and calming decor designed in a classic Portuguese style.
The rooms do not have cooking facilities, but with the meals available at its sister hotel, just up the road, this shouldn’t prove to be an issue for most people. There is a regular maid service and the rooms are clean and well-kept. Overall, the hotel is small and feels personal and friendly.
Things to do in the Surrounding Area
As well as the Algarve beaches, there is endless countryside to enjoy around Albufeira and a range of sports and leisure activities such as the Algarve’s famous golf courses, coastal horse riding tracks, country cycle routes, walks around the Marina, and the Albufeira strip with its clubs, restaurants, bars and shops – for both souvenirs and food.
The resort of Albufeira is also good for those who enjoy simply walking around, with a pleasant and friendly feel and lots of family friendly activities and facilities. The marina is well worth a look and there are some superb restaurants offering both international and local cuisine from Portugal. The bars are also great for a lovely sunset cocktail.
What Have Guests Said About the Hotel Polana, Portugal?
One reviewer said that the location was fantastic, as the Hotel Polana is only a few hundred metres directly from the beach, and right next to the resort bars. The Polana Hotel is a dormitory hotel for the larger Hotel California just up the road and the reviewer said that this was good because they got an excellent breakfast at the Hotel California every day.
Another guest commented that the hotel’s rooms were simple but well appointed, with air conditioning and television – although there weren’t any tea or coffee making facilities. The reviewer said that the cleaners had done a fantastic job of keeping the room clean, changing towels each day and the bedding every day too. They also enjoyed the rooftop terrace swimming pool and the breakfast bar, although both got busy during the day.
Another reviewer said that they found the hotel basic, clean and comfortable – with the sister hotel California offering very good facilities including dinner – and that their room at the Polana had a lovely little patio area at the back and was perfectly situated for nights out and trips to the beach.
