The three star Montechoro Hotel in Albufeira is located on the ever popular Algarve in Portugal – an area of Europe permanently sun-drenched and boasting endless golden beaches and deep blue seas which delight millions of tourists every year. The Hotel Montechoro has 362 rooms and is one of the largest hotels in the Albufeira resort in the Algarve. It’s a multi-story hotel, designed with a stylish Moorish influence which reflects the areas historical heritage, and with everything you need for an excellent holiday, conveniently located on the resort site.
Hotel facilities
The Montechoro Hotel Albufeira in the Algarve has many facilities, activities and attractions. There’s a lounge piano bar and a stylish and chic panoramic bar with fantastic views – perfect for a sunset cocktail or three!
There are also good restaurant and eating facilities – offering both sophisticated dining for adults, and options which will appeal to the youngest diners! There is also a cafe, a breakfast bar and even a ballroom for the live events! Outside are two large swimming pools, one of which is reserved for children, a games and TV room, a hairdresser/beautician and a gift shop and kiosk with newspapers and snacks etc. There is also a full to bursting entertainments programme which includes various live music, comedy and magic acts – and themed events for carnival, New Year’s Eve and Easter holidays. Finally guests have the convenience of a round-the-clock reception desk service, a concierge, available babysitters and also regular and free buses into Albufeira resort and to the nearby beach. It’s worth noting that some of the Montechoro’s leisure services are subject to surcharges.
What are the rooms like?
The Montechoro Albufeira, Algarve has got ten floors and 362 hotel rooms! They are all well equipped with the range of appliances and items that you’d expect in a large Algarve hotel.
Each room has fully-controllable air conditioning, TVs with all the satellite channels, phones (with external lines), hairdryers, a balcony or terrace. Rooms are comfortably designed with muted tones and warm colours and most feature excellent views of the beach, sea or swimming pools. Optional minibars are available for guests who request them as well as a fridge. The bathroom has a shower and bath and complimentary toiletries and furthermore there’s a safe for any valuables, baby cots where necessary and also wheelchair access.
Dining
There are great options for dining in the Montechoro resort – the day starts off with the complimentary and generous buffet breakfast in the morning, or for a small surcharge you can take breakfast in bed in your room! For later meals there’s the hotel restaurant which serves a variety of international and Portuguese dishes, and also vegetarian and childrens’ options too – all in a relaxed environment. There’s also a grill, which serves more gourmet dining on the top floor, offering dinner with a panoramic view!
What can you do in the day?
Guests to the Algarve are used to the excellent golf, boating, watersports and horseriding available in and around the tourist resorts, but the hotel also has a wide range of things to keep guests busy – a well stocked health club and tennis and squash courts are great for active people!
There’s also diving in the summer at the nearby beach and watersports – or you can hire bikes or try your hand at riding a horse for a more leisured way of travelling! Otherwise why not try a boat for a picturesque trip on the blue sea waters or relax with an on-site Pilates class whilst the children swim or enjoy onsite activities in the kids’ club.
What have visitors said?
Various tourists to the Montechoro, Algarve have offered feedback on their holidays. Feedback includes references to large, clean rooms with lots of storage space and the pool area, which has lots of sun beds. Reviewers also point to the convenient beach location and free beach transfers. One guest said that the Albufeira resort strip can get a bit tiring after a while, so suggested that visitors take some longer trips to see other parts of the Algarve and perhaps even further afield in Portugal. Other reviewers have also noted excellent deals for the hotel and found the staff friendly and pleasant.
