Janelas Do Mar Hotel

Enjoying a peaceful location in the Algarve but within easy reach of lively nightlife, the Janelas Do Mar hotel is the ideal base for a sunshine break on the Algarve.
Located on a quiet hillside on the outskirts of Montechoro, Janelas Do Mar is less than a mile away from the lively resort town of Albufeira, and just 10 minutes’ walk from the famous ‘Strip’ with its buzzing bars, clubs and restaurants. Families looking for a child-friendly complex, couples seeking a romantic Algarve getaway, sun worshippers in search of the perfect tan and partiers who want to dance all night and sleep all day, all will be right at home at the Janelas Do Mar complex.
Facilities
The small three-star hotel enjoys wonderful panoramic views and great on-site facilities, including two swimming pools and a further childrens’ pool. Those who prefer to toast themselves on the sands of the Algarve coast will not be disappointed – Albufeira’s beautiful Praia Da Oura is just a 20 minute hilly walk away. If that sounds too energetic, guests can take advantage of a regular bus that transports guests, free of charge, between the hotel and Albufeira town.
Other facilities on offer at this modern apartment hotel complex in Portugal include a café, supermarket, gardens, safety deposit boxes, a currency exchange desk and a newspaper stand stocked with international papers for those who want to keep abreast of current affairs back home. Sun loungers surround the pool, and guests can keep that bikini body in check by taking advantage of the small on-site gym, before relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna. An a-la-carte restaurant caters for guests who choose to dine at the complex.
Kids are well catered for at the Janelas Do Mar Hotel. At the on-site restaurant, childrens’ highchairs are available on request, and a playground is available to keep youngsters occupied during the day . In addition, a multi-sport court offers tennis, basketball and football facilities, whilst video games, table tennis and a pool table provide further fun diversions for kids (and big kids!) of all ages.
A poolside bar and further bar with an entertainment programme during high season caters for guests who want to sip a cocktail or chilled beer and socialise with other holidaymakers.
Other Activities
The temperate climate means that many guests will want to get out and about, and for an extra charge, guests can hire bicycles and explore the beautiful, hilly Algarve terrain that surrounds the Janelas Do Mar hotel complex. Internet access and laundry services are also available for an additional charge. The rooms themselves are tastefully appointed as well as practical, and are all equipped with private bathroom, lounge/dining room, kitchenette, TV, telephone, safe, and a cleaning service five times a week. The apartments at the Janelas Do Mar Hotel all boast balconies and take in some beautiful Algarve views.
Location
The Janelas Do Mar Hotel lies around 20 miles from Faro Airport and is easily reached by public transport, although hiring a car is a good option for guests who want to explore the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal. There is on-site parking at the complex, and a hire car provides guests with the independence to explore the beautiful beaches, rolling hills and picturesque villages that surround the hotel.
The Algarve is renowned for its golden sandy beaches, clear azure seas and warm summer sun, but it is also remarkable for the sheer variety of its terrain. Red cliffs and rocks jut out into the waters, whilst inland green hills are dotted with fruit trees and unspoiled villages characterised by their whitewashed walls, terracotta roofs and charming churches and cathedrals.
Although Albufeira itself is one of the liveliest resorts in the Algarve, it hasn’t lost its historic charm. The town is split into two sections – the New Town and the Old Town and the historic centre with its cobbled square, winding narrow streets and fisherman’s beach, is a beautiful place to explore on foot. Simple restaurants serving freshly-caught sardines line the square, and market stalls filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, cheeses and other delicious goodies line the cobbled streets.
In the New Town, meanwhile, visitors will find modern stores and boutiques, internet cafes, and – of course – the famously lively ‘Strip’. This one-and-a-half mile drag leads from the town to Ouro beach and is the main tourist hub in Albufeira – crammed with bars and restaurants serving every type of food imaginable – from pizza and fast food to sushi and traditional Portuguese cuisine. Sports fans can visit a bar and catch up on sporting action via wide-screen TV and karaoke is always an option during summer evenings.
There are a handful of nightclubs in Albufeira town, of which Kiss Discoteque is the liveliest and best-known. Whilst the Albufeira Strip is always buzzing in summer, those looking for a quieter spot to eat and drink, not to mention a more authentic Algarve experience, may prefer the traditional bars and restauants of the Old Town.

This hotel has very spacious apartments, well equipt for a self catering holiday. The rooms were clean and well decorated.Although the walk to the town is a nice one, the hotel is on top of a hill. The pool areas were safe and clean for the children. Would reccommend.
