The Alfamar Beach Hotel is one of the best resorts for both relaxing on the beach and for playing sports – something that you don’t normally find on cheap holidays in Albufeira.

It is suitable for all types of Albufeira holidays, including family holiday, even though it is quite a way from the larger towns.

Location

The hotel has been described as being ‘in the middle of nowhere’ however it is only a 10 minute bus or taxi journey in to the town of Albufeira which is around 13km to the west. It is also only a 40 minute walk down the beach to the town of Villamoura. Albufeira holidays are made easier here by the good bus service that runs along the coast and into the towns several times a day. The beach is on the doorstep and the hotel has its own private entrance.

Hotel Facilities

The hotel has better facilities than you will find on many cheap holidays in Albufeira. There’s a large outdoor swimming pool and a smaller one for children plus a heated indoor pool for Albufeira holidays during the colder months of November to April. There is also a sun terrace around the pool with adequate numbers of sun loungers and parasols. You can also hire, for a small fee, sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach for truly relaxing Albufeira holidays.

Inside the Alfamar Beach Hotel you will find a sauna and Jacuzzi, a massage service, a mini market, a hairdressers and a number of small bars that serve snacks and drinks throughout the day. There is also a restaurant that opens for breakfast and dinner.

One of the main facilities of the Alfamar Beach Hotel that you won’t find on many other cheap holidays in Albufeira is the sports centre. Some sports such as volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton and table tennis are free to play however some others do charge a fee. If you’re willing to pay the extra on your Albufeira holidays though you can also use the football pitches, the athletics equipment and the track, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and a fully equipped fitness room and gymnasium.

Room Facilities

The main building of the Alfamar Beach Hotel is 7 stories in height and contains over 260 rooms and suites. The accommodation at this Albufeira holidays hotel ranges from basic studios through to two bedroom apartments that are suitable for larger families.

The studios have facilities such as en-suite bathrooms, satellite TV and a radio, a direct line telephone, central heating and air conditioning and either a balcony or a terrace. The apartments also have all of these facilities but they also have a well equipped kitchen complete with cooking facilities and utensils, a fridge and a small freezer. There is also the option to hire a room safe for a small daily fee.

Reviews of the rooms at the Alfamar Beach Hotel all mention their cleanliness and the fact that they are quite spacious as well. The balconies and the bathrooms are a good size and the maid service is daily – which is another thing not often seen on cheap holidays in Albufeira.

Bars and Restaurants

The Alfamar Beach Hotel has one main restaurant that is open daily for breakfast and dinner. The food is said to be very good, if a little pricey, and the menu changes daily. In addition to the restaurant there is also a snack bar, a pool bar, a beach bar and a lobby bar that are open during the day. Some of the snack facilities are only open during the peak season though.

Families that are spending their Albufeira holidays at the Alfamar Beach Hotel often choose to cook as it can save quite a bit of money. Alternatively there is a small café just outside the complex that serves good meals and drinks. You can also walk down the beach to Villamoura and sample more traditional meals there.

Overall Assessment

The Alfamar Beach Hotel caters for all types of Albufeira holidays. Couples and families alike can either relax on the beach or around the pool or alternatively they can take part in a wide range of sports and other activities. Both the hotel and the rooms have adequate facilities to make any holiday a joy and although the complex is located quite a way from the town of Albufeira, it is easy to get there using public transport or a hire car.
